Pom Pom Project

Hey everyone! (and by everyone, I mean like two people, and anyone that may stumble upon this by mistake) Hope you had a great Christmas! It has definitely been awhile, but I have been collecting new/fresh ideas and trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do here. Eventually the page will have a makeover and posting will be more frequent once I get into the swing of things.
But.... for right now, I am just going to share a fun DIY that can be done in no time... or an hour.

Anthropologie Tufted Wool WreathNow I know everyone has seen the pom pom wreath floating around Pinterest that is inspired by an Anthropologie wreath? Looks a bit like this:

SWOON. ok.
Well after repeatedly seeing it pop up and falling in love. I especially loved it on one of my favorite home blogs,  Dear Lilie. She had a DIY verson on her Christmas mantle... After stumbling around the internet for a tutorial, I finally decided to just wing it. So here is what I did:

1 foam wreath form
1 super large ball of yarn
ribbon
scissors
piece of cardboard 3 inches or so in diameter
hot glue

Start making balls by wrapping the yarn around the cardboard 70 or so times.. less if your yarn is thick.
then carefully slide off cardboard, carefull to keep looped. Wrap some yarn around middle of bundle, tie tight and cut all loops and fluff.. You can find so many tutorials on homemade pom poms. Repeat however many times you need to fill your wreath to desired fluffiness
I wrapped the lower part of wreath form in yarn and then glued pom poms around. For the bottom, I made a bow and hot glued. This was the finished product, and I did it all within an hour while my baby girl was napping. hallelujah!

Stay tuned for more DIY's, beauty faves, fashion looks, Recipes and FUN!!!!!!
Good to be back.

My Life Lately

It has been far too long since last posting, but life happens... amazing things happen.
We bought our first house, and gave birth to our first child. She is now a beautiful 7 month old baby girl, named Cora Lynn. I knew I definitely needed a break from writing posts, but I think that I am ready to turn this into something spectacular. Sure fashion blogging is great and all, but let's be honest here... with a 7 month old baby and working 40 hours a week, good fashion isn't happening... and even though it is enjoyed, it isn't a priority in my life at the moment. What is a priority is fun, family, taking care of a home, crafting, cooking, and life! It may take a bit to get back into the swing of things, but I fully intend to. Sooner or later there will be a new look coming, and a lot of great and hopefully original content. Please stay tuned!

It has been awhile....

Hello!
It has been wayyyyyy to long, but we are finally getting settled and have all of the major stuff done with the house besides landscaping the back yard, some painting here and there, and just getting more decor!  I have seriously been having withdrawls from writing/posting.. it has been on my planner for weeks now, but somehow life and its happenings have been taking a priority lately.. it is good to be back!

Beauty and my love of Fashion has also taken a backseat to home decor/design, so after taking a minute to browse things at Sephora, here are a few items on my new wish list:

1. Philosophy Hope in a Jar - Night 2. Hourglass Illuminating Powder 3. UD Naked Flushed  4. Laura Mercier Cream Eye Color in Rose Gold 5.  Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Lotion - Vanilla Apricot
Has anyone tried any of these products? If so, yay or nay? What are your favorite beauty items?!

Exhausted..

I know it has been several weeks, but it has been a crazy few weeks and we have been busy trying to move out and make our new house a home. Stick with me, and in another few weeks, hopefully we will be all unpacked and painted in our new home. We finally just got our furniture in yesterday, but it is more of an oversized modern art piece than a functional space. I will be sure to post pictures once it is complete, and come back with some new/original content.
Until next time

2013

I know this is a common topic today, but I think it is important to set goals rather than resolutions. I feel like goals have a higher probability of being achieved. They give you something to work for, and are often a little less vague. Here are my personal goals for 2013:

1. lose the weight: I keep telling myself that I need to eat better and start getting in shape. I am the only one standing in my way. I shouldn't only do it for me, but also to set good examples for others. I need to establish healthy habits now before we have children so they can see healthy lifestyles.

2. make our new house our home: there is going to be a lot of work to do once we get into our new house, but making it home will be the fun part. I can't wait to have friends over and enjoy the space with people we love.

3. learn something new:  I want to take a class or being reading non-fiction. I crave knowledge. I don't think I have the patience right now to go back for my masters, but until then I don't want to just let life slide by.

4.  travel: whether they are just small weekend/day trips, I want to go experience new places. There is so much out there, and while the couch is super inviting... its not good just sit there.

5. be less critical:  I often find myself being rather judgemental/critical of others.. it isn't that I mean to. I am just a perfectionist and I tend to see flaws everywhere. I need to start looking for the bright spots and the good in people/situations. I think I would be a lot happier if life wasn't experience through such a cynical point of view.

Here is to hoping that 2013 will be our year and bring us all a ton of happiness and love!
